Greetings! I'm Renee Reyes, a proud local wedding officiant in South Texas with over a decade of experience. As I embark on this blogging journey, I'd like to share a bit about myself.

Originally from Kalamazoo, Michigan, I've called Texas home for many years now. While I miss Michigan's cool weather, the warmth and vibrancy of Texas always bring a smile to my face, despite those scorching summer days!

Married for nearly two decades to a true Texan, I've embraced the culture and cuisine of this state wholeheartedly. Interestingly, I recently discovered that I'm 53 percent Indigenous, which has profoundly impacted my life, teaching me about ancestry, grounding techniques, and connecting with my heritage in profound ways.

Living in Texas, surrounded by Hispanic, Mexican, and Latino cultures, has enriched my perspective. It's a place where identity isn't questioned but assumed, yet I've come to understand that I'm a blend of many influences.

Becoming a wedding officiant in 2014 was a pivotal moment for me. It was a friend's request that sparked my journey, and with the legalization of same-sex marriages in 2015, I knew I had found my calling. I wanted to unite couples from all walks of life, ensuring they felt celebrated and cherished on their special day.

The Supreme Court's decision on June 26th, 2015, marked a turning point. It was a day of jubilation, tears, and a renewed sense of purpose for me. I was determined to make a difference, to be a beacon of love and acceptance for the LGBTQI community.

Sadly, I've encountered couples turned away by other officiants, which only fuels my commitment to providing a welcoming and inclusive space for all. My stature may be petite, but my love for people knows no bounds.

In a world where not everyone agrees, I stand firm in my dedication to love, honesty, and transparency. To the LGBTQI community, I say thank you for your resilience and for allowing me to be a part of your love stories.

This is just the beginning of my blogging journey, and I'm excited to share more stories of love, celebration, and unity with you all. Thank you for joining me on this adventure!

With love,

Renee Reyes
